SUMMARY:Nature-inspired computation: real world challenges and opportuniti
 es
LOCATION:Imperial College: Council Room\, 170 Queens Gate
DESCRIPTION:Continued advances in Frontier AI capabilities were achieved t
hrough escalating compute\, electricity\, cooling\, water and infrastructu
re demand.\nFurther progress\, and the full realisation of the potential s
ocietal benefit of this technology\, is now constrained not only by comput
ational model quality\, but by the physical limitations\, energetic and en
vironmental costs of the underlying computational infrastructure.\nIn ligh
 t of a clear need for cheap\, low energy\, sustainable compute solutions\,
researchers and innovators have been exploring different physical signals
that could potentially transform future computing paradigms.\nThis sessio
n will bring together panellists and speakers across sectors to discuss th
e challenges and opportunities for a radical transformation of our approac
h to computing.\nWhile research findings are promising\, large scale deplo
yment of any new technology will require the convergence of efforts across
  governments\, industries\, innovators and users.\nPlease check back for t
he full list of speakers.\nThis event is taking place as part of the two-d
ay COMPUTING WITH WAVES WORKSHOP 2026 taking place at Imperial 21-22 Sept
ember. Should you wish to register for the wider programme\, please compl
ete this form.\nAbout the School of Convergence Science\nThe School of Con
vergence Science at Imperial College London brings together research that
addresses societal challenges of significant scale that defy conventional
approaches\, through the deep integration of disciplines and cross-sector
partners.\nWithin the School\, the Human and Artificial Intelligence missi
ons explore new approaches to intelligence and computation\, with Nature-e
fficient AI as a key pillar of SYMBIOSIS: drawing inspiration from the rem
arkable efficiency of biological intelligence to develop more sustainable\
, capable and adaptive AI systems.\nGuiding our theme are four interdiscip
linary Co-Directors whose collective expertise\, networks and experience a
re driving a new era of innovation\, where humans and machines work in par
tnership to unlock transformative possibilities.\nGot questions? Get in to
