 otential of Britain's economy.In recent years a succession of economic sho
 cks has led to low growth\, stagnant living standards and divided politics
 . As debt and taxes have risen to record levels\, many worry that the UK e
 conomy is stuck in a low-growth trap with ruinous implications for future 
 generations. Jeremy Hunt was Chancellor during one of those shocks. He arg
 ues that despite widespread pessimism\, Britain still has a lot going for 
 it – the third largest technology ecosystem in the world\, a huge financ
 ial services sector\, globally admired universities and respected institut
 ions. What's more\, the solutions to our economic malaise are in plain sig
 ht if we are willing to learn from what works elsewhere.Meet our speaker a
 nd chairJeremy Hunt (@Jeremy_Hunt) spent over a decade in government\, mos
 t recently as Chancellor from October 2022 to the general election in the 
 summer of 2024. Before that\, he was Chair of the Health and Social Care S
 elect Committee in Parliament\, having also been Health Secretary from 201
 2 to 2018. In June 2018\, Jeremy Hunt became the longest ever serving Heal
 th Secretary. He has also been Foreign Secretary and Culture Secretary\, i
 ncluding overseeing the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London in the latt
 er role. He is currently Member of Parliament for Godalming and Ash.Tony T
 ravers is a professor in practice in the LSE’s Department of Government 
 and Associate Dean of the School of Public Policy. His key research intere
 sts include local and regional government\, elections and public service r
 eform. Professor Travers' knowledge is frequently sought by policy makers 
 and he has advised a range of select committees and think tanks. He also p
 rovides expert analysis for broadcast and print media\, regularly appearin
