 sonAttend onlineMeet our speakersTharman Shanmugaratnam was elected as Sin
 gapore’s President in September 2023. He had served in politics for 22 y
 ears\, including as Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister for several
  years. Tharman has been committed through his years in public service to 
 building a more inclusive society\, and sustaining social mobility and eco
 nomic resilience. Internationally\, Tharman has led several commissions fo
 cused on global financial reforms\, job creation in a new era\, preparedne
 ss for future pandemics\, and global water sustainability.He currently co-
 chairs the High-Level Advisory Council on Jobs\, established by the World 
 Bank Group in July 2024. Tharman also chairs the board of the Group of Thi
 rty\, an independent global council of economic and financial leaders from
  the public and private sectors. He recently co-chaired the Global Commiss
 ion on the Economics of Water\, which released its report in October 2024.
  He earlier chaired the G20 Eminent Persons Group on Global Financial Gove
 rnance in 2017-2018\, and co-chaired the G20 High-Level Panel on financing
  pandemic preparedness and response in 2021. He also chaired the IMF’s I
 nternational Monetary and Financial Committee from 2011-2014\, and the Adv
 isory Board for the UN’s Human Development Report for several years.Thar
 man did undergraduate studies at LSE and an M.Phil in Economics at the Uni
 versity of Cambridge. He later obtained an MPA at Harvard University’s K
 ennedy School of Government\, where he was conferred the Lucius N Littauer
  Fellow award for outstanding performance and leadership potential. In 201
 9\, the Institute of International Finance awarded him its inaugural Disti
 nguished Leadership and Service Award. In 2025\, Tharman was awarded the M
 iriam Pozen Prize by the MIT Golub Center for Finance and Policy\, in reco
 gnition of leadership in international financial policy.Sri Mulyani Indraw
 ati was Indonesia’s first female Minister of Finance\, serving under th
 ree presidents. She is a globally respected economist and public policy le
 ader with extensive experience in fiscal reform\, international finance\, 
 and sustainable development. She steered the nation through the Asian Fina
 ncial Crisis\, Global Financial Crisis\, and COVID-19 pandemic while eleva
 ting its sovereign credit rating to investment grade. She is the Former Ma
 naging Director and COO of the World Bank\, overseeing operations in 100+ 
 countries. Sri led Indonesia’s first sovereign Green Sukuk issuance and 
 established the Indonesia Investment Authority. Champion of fiscal reform\
 , inclusive growth\, gender equality\, and multilateral cooperation across
  the G20\, ASEAN\, OECD\, IMF-World Bank\, ADB\, IsDB\, and AIIB. Named Wo
 rld Government Summit’s Best Minister (2018) and regularly featured in F
 orbes’ 100 Most Powerful Women.Amina J. Mohammed is the Deputy Secretary
 -General of the United Nations and Chair of the United Nations Sustainable
  Development Group. Prior to her appointment\, Ms. Mohammed served as Mini
 ster of Environment of the Federal Republic of Nigeria where she steered t
 he country’s efforts on climate action and efforts to protect the natura
 l environment. Ms. Mohammed first joined the United Nations in 2012 as Spe
 cial Adviser to former Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon with the responsibili
 ty for post-2015 development planning. She led the process that resulted i
 n global agreement around the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and 
 the creation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Ms. Mohammed began her 
 career working on the design of schools and hospitals in Nigeria. She serv
 ed as an advocate focused on increasing access to education and other soci
 al services\, before moving into the public sector\, where she rose to the
  position of adviser to four successive Presidents on poverty\, public sec
 tor reform\, and sustainable development. Ms. Mohammed has been conferred 
 several honorary doctorates and has served as an adjunct professor\, lectu
 ring on international development. The recipient of various global awards\
 , Ms. Mohammed has served on numerous international advisory boards and pa
 nels.Susana Mourato is Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research) a
 t LSE\, where she is also Professor of Environmental Economics. She joined
  LSE in 2008 from Imperial College London and has held several senior lead
 ership roles\, including Head of Department of Geography and Environment (
 2017–2020) and Academic Director of LSE Summer School. She is an Associa
 te of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environmen
 t.Teresa Ribera is the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission
  for a Clean\, Just and Competitive Transition. She previously served as V
 ice President of the Government of Spain and Minister for the Ecological T
 ransition and the Demographic Challenge as well as Member of Spanish Parli
 ament. Prior to that\, she was Director of the Institute for Sustainable D
 evelopment and International Relations (IDDRI) from 2014 to 2018\, enablin
 g the Institute to play a key role in the negotiation of the Paris Climate
  Agreement. From 2008 to 2011\, she served as the Spanish Secretary of Sta
 te for Climate Change and Biodiversity. A public official from the Senior 
 Corps of State Civil Administrators\, she has also taught public law at th
 e Autonomous University of Madrid. She is member of the Royal Academy of S
 cience\, Letters and Fine Arts of Belgium since 2021.Nicholas Stern is IG 
 Patel Chair of Economics and Government and the inaugural Chair of the Glo
 bal School of Sustainability at LSE. His book The Growth Story of the 21st
  Century: The Economics and Opportunity of Climate Action is published by 
 LSE Press.Andrew Steer is Professor in Practice in the Global School of Su
 stainability at LSE. He is a global leader in sustainable development and 
 climate change advocacy. Sir Andrew served most recently as the founding P
 resident and CEO of the Bezos Earth Fund. He was the President and CEO of 
 the World Resources Institute\, has held significant positions at the Worl
 d Bank\, including Special Envoy for Climate Change\, and was Director Gen
 eral at the former UK Department for International Development (DFID). He 
 is also Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Botanic Gardens\, Kew 
 as of February 2026.Lei Zhang is a global climate tech entrepreneur and Co
 -Founder of the Global School of Sustainability at LSE\, as well as Founde
 r and CEO of Envision – a new renewable energy system pioneer behind the
  world’s first Net Zero Industrial Park and Zero Carbon Hydrogen Ammonia
  project. Envision’s business spans across 6 continents and includes sma
 rt wind and solar power\, energy storage and hydrogen fuels and decarboniz
 ation technology. He is Executive Chairman of the Board at AESC – a lead
 ing Japanese battery technology company\, and at Univers – Singapore-hea
 dquartered technology provider of the world’s largest decarbonization sy
 stem. Lei is a Founding Member and Chair of the Bloomberg New Economy Clim
 ate Technology Coalition and a member of the World Economic Forum’s Alli
 ance of CEO Climate Leaders. Envision was recognised as a leader on FORTUN
