 a special event featuring the World Bank’s Public Workforce Performance 
 and Prosperity Report\, the first-ever global stocktaking of public sector
  employment. This presentation forms part of a worldwide series of regiona
 l events through which the World Bank is sharing the report’s findings\,
  with launches taking place across different World Bank regions.The report
  examines how to enhance the effectiveness of the world’s 400 million pu
 blic sector workers\, who play a critical role in delivering essential gov
 ernment functions and enabling strong development outcomes. These include 
 better jobs\, improved education and health services\, climate action\, pe
 ace and security\, fiscal sustainability\, and renewed public trust. At it
 s core is a new conceptual framework that explores how workforce performan
 ce is shaped by key inputs\, particularly the size\, quality\, and compens
 ation of the public workforce\, as well as by organisational practices suc
 h as performance management\, training\, collaboration\, community engagem
 ent\, and integrity and transparency.The discussion will also highlight th
 e growing role of digital technologies in transforming public sector produ
 ctivity\, examining how these tools interact with workforce and management
  practices and how skills influence their successful adoption.Meet our spe
 akers and chairSarah Brierley (@sarahbrierley.bsky.social) is an Associate
  Professor of Comparative Politics at the London School of Economics and P
 olitical Science. Her research focuses on the state\, corruption\, and ele
 ctoral politics in sub-Saharan Africa.Zahid Hasnain is a Lead Governance S
 pecialist who joined the World Bank in 2002. His areas of expertise are pu
 blic administration reform\; public sector employment\, compensation\, and
  management\; digital governance\; and political economy. He has led opera
 tional and analytical work across all World Bank regions.Arturo Herrera Gu
 tierrez is the World Bank Group Global Director for Governance\, leading 
 strategy and engagement on public institutions\, public financial manageme
 nt and procurement\, public administration and judicial reforms. He has he
 ld senior leadership roles both in the World Bank and in the Government of
  Mexico\, including as Minister of Finance and Public Credit\, Deputy Fina
 nce Minister\, and Secretary of Finance of Mexico City.Andrés Velasco (@A
 ndresVelasco) is Professor of Public Policy and Dean of the School of Publ
 ic Policy at LSE. In 2017-19 he was a member of the G20 Eminent Persons Gr
 oup. During 2015-16 he co-chaired the Global Panel on the Future of the Mu
 ltilateral Lending Institutions. In 2013-16 he was a member of the Global
