  in Economic Sciences\, Philippe Aghion joins us at LSE to mark the offici
 al launch of the Huth Initiative for a New Political Economy.Professor Agh
 ion will explore one of the most pressing and challenging questions of our
  time: what kind of economy we want to build for the future - one that is 
 dynamic\, resilient and generates meaningful work. His remarks will be fol
 lowed by a panel discussion chaired by Larry Kramer\, and joined by Tim Be
 sley\, Daniel Chandler and Sara Hobolt.Meet our speakers and chairPhilippe
  Aghion is the 2025 Nobel Prize laureate in economics\, a professor LSE an
 d the College de France and an associate of the Centre for Economic Perfor
 mance. He is a fellow of the Econometric Society and of the American Acade
 my of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on the economics of growth. 
 With Peter Howitt\, he pioneered the so-called Schumpeterian Growth paradi
 gm which was subsequently used to analyse the design of growth policies an
 d the role of the state in the growth process.Tim Besley is School Profess
 or of Economics and Political Science and W. Arthur Lewis Professor of Dev
 elopment Economics at LSE\, and Director of the Huth Initiative for a New 
 Political Economy.Daniel Chandler is an economist and philosopher based at
  the London School of Economics\, where he is Executive Director of the Hu
 th Initiative for a New Political Economy\, Research Director of the Progr
 amme on Cohesive Capitalism\, and Assistant Professorial Research Fellow i
 n the School of Public Policy.Sara Hobolt is the Sutherland Chair in Europ
 ean Institutions and Head of the Department of Government at LSE.Larry Kra
 mer has been President and Vice Chancellor of LSE since April 2024. A cons
 titutional scholar\, university administrator\, and philanthropic leader\,
  he was previously the President of the William and Flora Hewlett Foundati
