What you’ll do

Lights Up sessions

Lights Up sessions are an opportunity to explore our display, ‘Expecting: Birth, Belief and Protection’, with more even lighting conditions across the gallery.

To protect the historic scrolls in the display, which are fragile and light-sensitive, the lighting will not be as bright as in other Lights Up events.

You can drop in to a Lights Up event at any time during the four-hour session, and you don't need to book in advance.

Dates and times of Lights Up sessions

  • Thursday 4 December, 16:00 - 20:00
  • Saturday, 17 January, 10:00 - 14:00
  • Thursday 26 February, 14:00 - 18:00
  • Sunday 12 April, 10:00 - 14:00

Audio described tours

There will be a bookable audio described tour during each Lights Up session. Tour groups are limited in size, so you'll need to book a place in advance to join. Your tour guide will describe key visual elements and discuss highlights of the exhibition.
