The award-winning composer and conductor, Sir James MacMillan will be giving a lecture in St John's College Chapel on Thursday 4th June at 9pm. Sir James is widely regarded as one of the greatest living composers - in Britain, a successor to Edward Elgar and Benjamin Britten. His title is 'Music and silence', and the event will last an hour, including the opportunity for a few questions at the end. Entry is free; everyone is welcome, and tickets are not required. Enter through Great Gate. Earlier that evening, Evensong for the feast of Corpus Christi will take place at 6.30pm, when the Choir will sing his powerful anthem 'The Offered Christ'.
