One of the largest film producing nations in the world, Indian cinema has a rich and dynamic history that goes back well over a century – a history of successfully counteracting competition from Hollywood where richer countries, like Britain, have failed. This lecture explores the global flows of Indian cinema, its many influences and shifting impacts on cinema-going cultures across the world for almost a hundred years.
