The Royal Society

This event is part of the Royal Society's Summer Science Exhibition 2026.

Join Dr Sheila Kanani MBE, planetary scientist, space educator and author of several books, including Can You Get Music on the Moon? on a fascinating exploration of the world of sound and space science.

In this talk you’ll learn about the sound technology we use every day, explore the natural world including animal noises, thunder and earthquakes, before jetting off into space to discover what sound might be like on other planets. And yes, you'll even find out whether it’s possible to get music on the moon.

Dr Sheila Kanani’s Can You Get Rainbows in Space? was the winner of the 2024 Royal Society Young People’s Book prize.

This event is part of the science book talks strand at Summer Science Exhibition 2026.

This event will be held in Theatre 2 at the Royal Society on Wednesday 1 July 2026, 11.30am – 12pm.
