Thursday 9 October 2025 6.30pm - 8pmJoin us for an engaging discussion with Carolina Tohá, former Minister of the Interior and Public Security of Chile, and former presidential candidate.Ms Tohá will be in conversation with Andrés Velasco, Dean of the LSE School of Public Policy and former Finance Minister of Chile (2006–2010).Meet our speakers and chairCarolina Tohá (Carolina_Toha) was the Undersecretary of Government under President Ricardo Lagos and a two term Congress Woman in the Chilean Congress. In 2009 was designated Minister Secretary of Government under the first administration of President Michelle Bachelet. With this, she became the first female government spokesperson. During President Gabriel Boric's administration, she was appointed Minister of the Interior and Public Security, a position she held from 2022 to 2025. From there, she spearheaded an ambitious security strategy that included multiple reforms, institutional changes, and new public policies. In March 2025, she resigned to run for president in the progressive sector's primaries, where she was defeated.Andrés Velasco (@AndresVelasco) is

Professor of Public Policy and Dean of the School of Public Policy at LSE. In

2017-19 he was a member of the G20 Eminent Persons Group. During 2015-16 he

co-chaired the Global Panel on the Future of the Multilateral Lending
