Women in Science: historical perspectives

The Royal Society

November 18

The Royal Society

A conference investigating the contributions of women to science, from the 17th century to the present day.

This one-day event is part of a year-long celebration of the past, present, and future of women in the scientific community. This began in March 2025 with the 80th anniversary of the election of the first two female Fellows of the Royal Society, Kathleen Lonsdale and Marjory Stephenson.

A series of talks and discussion sessions will cover contributions, exclusions and collaborations between women researchers, collectors, illustrators and communicators from the 17th century to the 20th century. Invited speakers will present new research and come from all stages of their research careers.
