Focussing on productions of Martin Crimp's works, as directed by Luc Bondy (Cruel and Tender, 2004) and Katie Mitchell (The Rest Will Be Familiar to You from Cinema, 2013), as well as Elfriede Jelinek’s Die Schutzbefohlenen (2015), David Greig’s The Suppliant Women (2016), and Ella Hickson’s Oedipus (2025), Professor Angelaki will probe key adaptations of the Greek classical canon for their environmentalist activism, investigating how they dynamically carry the potential, both in text and in production, of greening the theatre canon.
